Volunteer with the Wyoming State Fair Foundation

Volunteers are an important part of the Wyoming State Fair Foundation’s work. From supporting events during the State Fair to assisting with year-round initiatives, volunteers help strengthen programs that serve youth, exhibitors, donors, and community partners across Wyoming.

We offer opportunities throughout the year, both during the Fair and beyond.

State Fair Volunteer Roles

During the Wyoming State Fair, volunteers assist in a variety of operational and guest-facing roles, including:

Help vendors locate their assigned spaces and distribute vendor packets during setup days prior to the Fair.

State Fair Only PRCA Rodeo Opportunities

PRCA Rodeo Arena Volunteer

Volunteers support the safe and efficient operation of the PRCA rodeo by assisting with arena flow, opening gates, sorting cattle, setting barrels, collecting judges’ sheets, and helping with other production tasks as needed. A variety of roles are available, including some with no experience necessary. Volunteer opportunities take place Thursday and Friday during rodeo slack and performances, with each shift lasting approximately 3–6 hours. This role requires 10–14 volunteers, age 12 or older. Volunteers should expect to work outdoors, walk around the arena, stand for extended periods, and assist in a fast-paced rodeo environment.

PRCA Rodeo Hospitality Volunteer

Volunteers help provide a welcoming experience for rodeo contestants and special guests by hosting the contestant hospitality area, assisting with food service, answering questions, giving directions, and escorting special guests for in-arena presentations. Volunteer opportunities are available Thursday and Friday during rodeo slack and performances, with each shift lasting approximately 2–4 hours. This role requires 2–4 volunteers, age 12 or older. Volunteers should expect to work outdoors, walk around the arena, stand for extended periods, and help create a friendly, organized hospitality experience.

PRCA Rodeo Spectator Volunteer

Volunteers help enhance the spectator experience by welcoming ticketholders, directing guests before the event, assisting with sponsored giveaways, encouraging crowd participation during performances, and helping special guests get to the appropriate locations for introductions. Volunteer opportunities are available Thursday and Friday during the evening rodeo performances, with each shift lasting approximately 2–4 hours. This role requires 2–6 volunteers, age 12 or older. Volunteers should expect to work outdoors, walk around the arena, stand for extended periods, and bring an outgoing, energetic attitude to the rodeo atmosphere.

Priority Projects

Volunteer Recognition and Benefits

In appreciation of your service, Wyoming State Fair Foundation volunteers receive:

  • One meal voucher during your scheduled shift
  • One admission to the Fairgrounds
  • An official volunteer T-shirt
  • Team training and orientation prior to service
